How to Draw a Menorah: easy drawing guide for kids

How to Draw a Menorah (Easy Step by Step)

A menorah is a fun drawing because it is mostly rounded rectangles, curved lines, and little raindrops. Once you draw one candle and one flame, you can repeat them across the page. The curved arms make it look fancy, but each one is just a big smile shape.

How to draw a menorah step by step

How to Draw a Menorah · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Center candle and stem

Draw a tall, skinny rounded rectangle in the middle for the tallest candle. Then draw a straight line down from its bottom, like a tree trunk.

  2. Step 2: First eye dot

Draw one small round dot to the right of the stem, a little below where the stem ends. It will be an eye for the base later.

  3. Step 3: Inner arms and candles

Draw two smile-shaped curves, one inside the other, that start at the stem and sweep out to each side. Finish each end with a short rounded rectangle candle, so there are two candles on each side.

  4. Step 4: Outer arms and candles

Draw two bigger smile curves around the first ones, each wider than the last, crossing the stem. Top each end with a short rounded rectangle candle, so all the candles sit in a neat row.

  5. Step 5: The tall flame

Above the tall middle candle, draw a pointy raindrop shape with the tip facing up.

  6. Step 6: The small flames

Above each of the other eight candles, draw a small raindrop flame with the point up.

  7. Step 7: Base and second eye

At the bottom of the stem, draw a wide, flat dome, like a hill with a flat bottom, so the stem touches its top. Add one small dot on the left side of the stem to match the first dot.

  8. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a menorah

  • Draw the center candle first and make it the tallest. The other candles line up on each side of it, so it works like a guide.
  • The curved arms are the trickiest part. Start each one at the stem and sweep outward in a smile, making every arm a little wider than the one before it.
  • Keep the candles the same size and space them evenly. A light pencil line across the tops can help them all line up.

A Hanukkah menorah has nine candle holders. Eight stand for the eight nights of Hanukkah, and the ninth, called the shamash, is used to light the others. It usually sits higher than the rest.
