Step 1: The mantel shelf
Draw a long, wide rectangle with rounded corners across the top of your page. This is the shelf that sits above the fire.
Step 2: Sides and base
Draw one tall straight line down from each end of the shelf. Then draw another long rounded rectangle at the bottom, joining the two lines, for the floor base.
Step 3: The fire opening
In the middle, draw a tall rectangle with rounded top corners, like a doorway. Its sides go down to the base.
Step 4: The flames
Inside the opening, draw a big flame shaped like a teardrop with a pointy top. Then draw a smaller flame inside it.
Step 5: The log
Draw a short rounded bar across the bottom of the fire for the log. Add one small straight line to the right of the opening, standing on the base.
Step 6: Two stockings
Hang a stocking on each side of the fire. Draw a short line down from the shelf, a flat cuff across the top, then a tall tube that bends into a round boot at the bottom.
Step 7: Wreath and bricks
Above the shelf, draw a circle with a smaller circle inside it for the wreath. Add a bow underneath with two loops that look like a sideways number eight. Then draw a few short straight lines near the stockings and the fire for bricks.
Step 8: More bricks
Add a few more short straight lines for bricks near the bottom, on each side of the fire, between the stockings and the base.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a fireplace
- Use a ruler or the edge of a book for the long mantel and base. Straight lines make the whole fireplace look neat.
- The stockings are the trickiest part. Draw a short line from the shelf and a cuff first, then a tall tube that curves into a boot at the bottom.
- Draw the flame as a teardrop with the point facing up. Make the small flame inside a copy of the big one, just smaller.

How to color your fireplace drawing
Try red bricks, a brown mantel, and bright orange, yellow, and red flames. For a creative twist, color each stocking in a different pattern, like stripes or polka dots, and make the wreath green.
Fireplace fun fact for kids
Long ago, fireplaces were the center of a home. Families cooked, kept warm, and told stories around the fire. Hanging stockings by the fireplace is a Christmas tradition in the United States.
