How to Draw a Spider Web (Easy Step by Step)
A spider web is a fun first drawing because it is mostly straight lines and wavy lines. You will build it from a square corner, a few spokes, and bendy threads that connect them. A smiling spider dangling on a thread makes it friendly instead of spooky.

Step 1: Top and side lines
Draw a long line across the top and a long line down the left side so they meet in a square corner. Add a small fan of short lines in the corner where they meet.
Step 2: Three long spokes
Starting at the corner, draw three straight lines that fan out like the rays of a sun. Make one go down and to the right, and the other two go down toward the bottom of the page.
Step 3: Wavy top threads
Draw two wavy lines that hang down from the top edge. Each one wiggles like a little snake and crosses the long spoke on the right.
Step 4: Wavy cross threads
Draw two wavy lines that start at the left side and curve up and to the right. Each one crosses the spokes like a little bridge between them.
Step 5: Hanging thread and hook
On the right side of the page, draw a straight line hanging down. At the bottom, curve the line into a small hook, like the top of an umbrella handle.
Step 6: Spider and web threads
Finish the hook into a round spider body with eight bendy legs, four on each side. Add two dots for eyes and a small curved smile. Then fill in the web with a few more short spokes near the corner, one long spoke, and some wavy threads.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a spider web
- Draw the long spokes first and keep them fairly straight. They give the wavy threads something to connect to.
- Make each wavy thread cross the spokes it meets. Stop a thread where it touches a spoke, and start the next one nearby.
- Make the hook at the end of the hanging thread round and smooth. It turns into the spider's body, and then you add the legs, giving each side the same number.

How to color your spider web drawing
Try a pale gray or silver for the web so the spider stands out, and make the spider purple, orange, or green. For a fun twist, add tiny dewdrops in light blue along the threads, or color the background a deep night blue.
Spider web fun fact for kids
Spiders are not insects. Insects have six legs, and spiders have eight legs and two main body parts.
Questions about drawing a spider web
What shapes do I need to draw a spider web?
You need straight lines for the edges and spokes, and wavy lines for the threads between them. The spider itself is a round body with eight bendy legs.
How do I make my spider look cuter?
Give it a round body with two dot eyes and a small curved smile. Short, bendy legs also look friendlier than long, sharp ones.
How do I keep my web lines even?
Draw the spokes first, then add the wavy threads one at a time. If a thread looks wobbly, that is fine, because real webs are not perfectly even either.
