Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Big heart outline
Draw a wide heart shape with two round bumps on top and a small dip between them. Let the sides curve down and in, then round off the bottom like a soft bowl.
Step 3: Left hole and big loop
Inside the left bump, draw a small pointed leaf shape. From the right side of the leaf, draw a curved line down toward the middle. Where it ends, draw a big rounded egg shape with its pointed top touching that line.
Step 4: Crossing line and right hole
Start at the dip at the top and draw a short slanted line down to the middle, where the rope crosses. Then draw a matching pointed leaf shape in the right bump.
Step 5: Happy face
Near the bottom of the pretzel, below the big loop, draw two small dots for eyes. Under them, add a little curved smile.
Step 6: Salt on the left
Along the left side of the pretzel, dot in little grains of salt. Spread them out, some near the top and some lower down.
Step 7: Salt on the right
Now dot salt along the right side of the pretzel. Try to place the dots like the ones on the left so both sides look balanced.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a pretzel
- Start with the outer heart shape and take your time. If the two top bumps are about the same size, the rest will fall into place.
- The spot where the rope crosses is the trickiest part. Draw the big loop so its pointed top touches the curved line from the left hole, then add the slanted line from the top dip so it meets the same spot.
- Make the salt dots small and keep them away from the lines. Leave a bit of space between each one so they look scattered, not crowded.

How to color your pretzel drawing
Color the pretzel golden brown, with a darker brown near the edges, and leave the salt dots white or light gray. For a creative twist, give your pretzel a different face, such as a big grin or sleepy eyes.
Pretzel fun fact for kids
The English word pretzel comes from the German word Brezel. Pretzels have been baked in Europe for hundreds of years.
