Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The big head
Draw a large wide oval near the top of your page. This is the panda's head, so make it nice and round.
Step 3: Start of the body
Start at the lower right of the head and draw a short curve going down. Then, a good way below the head, draw a small curved line like a smile. These mark the side and the bottom of the tummy.
Step 4: Two round ears
Add a half circle on each top corner of the head. The ears should look like they are peeking out from behind it.
Step 5: Arms
On the left, draw a tall bean shape for one arm, with a short line joining it to the head. On the right, draw a sideways C shape that opens to the right, like an arm reaching out to hold something.
Step 6: Big feet
Draw two wide ovals at the bottom, one on each side, overlapping the bottom of the body. Leave a little gap between them.
Step 7: Eye patches
Draw two tilted ovals on the face, one on each side. Put a small solid dot inside each one for the eyes.
Step 8: Nose and mouth
Between the eyes, draw a tiny short line for the nose. At its bottom, let it split into two little curves for the mouth, like a small Y.
Step 9: Bamboo stalks
Next to the panda's hand, draw two tall straight lines side by side. They are the bamboo stalks, and they go from above the hand down to the ground.
Step 10: Bamboo leaf and joints
Draw a pointy leaf shape at the top of the stalks. Then add short lines across the stalks to make the bamboo joints.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a panda
- Draw the head first and leave plenty of room below it, so the body has space to be round and chubby.
- The two feet are the trickiest part. Draw them as wide ovals that overlap the bottom of the body, and check that they are about the same size.
- Keep the two long bamboo lines straight and close together. Then add the short joint lines last.

How to color your panda drawing
Color the ears, eye patches, arms, and feet black, and leave the head and tummy white. Try giving the bamboo a bright green stalk and a leaf in a different color, like pink or purple, for a magical twist.
Panda fun fact for kids
Giant pandas eat mostly bamboo, and they can spend 10 to 16 hours a day eating it.
