Step 1: The cloud top
Start with a bumpy hill shape for the top of the cloud. Draw one tall round bump, then let the line dip down and curve gently out to the right.
Step 2: The left puff
On the left side of the tall bump, draw a round puff. Start where the tall bump begins and curve out to the left and down.
Step 3: The cloud bottom
Finish the cloud shape. Add a small round puff on the far left, run a long straight line along the bottom, then curve up the right side to meet the end of the top line.
Step 4: The happy face
Give your cloud a sweet face. Draw two small dots for eyes, then a little smile curve between them.
Step 5: The rainbow
Peek a rainbow out from behind the cloud. Draw one big curved arch starting at the right side of the cloud, then a smaller arch inside it that follows the same curve.
Step 6: Top row of drops
Under the cloud, draw three raindrops in a row. Each one is a small teardrop with a point on top and a round belly at the bottom.
Step 7: Bottom row of drops
Add three more raindrops in a second row, sitting in the gaps between the drops above. Make them the same teardrop shape.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a rain cloud
- Draw the cloud top with one tall bump and a lower, gentler curve. Different sizes make the cloud look fluffy instead of like a row of matching circles.
- Where two puffs meet, let the lines come together in a small dip. This pinch makes the cloud look bumpy and is the trickiest spot, so go slowly.
- Practice one raindrop first: draw a small round belly, then pull a point up from the top. Then copy it five more times, spacing them evenly in two rows.

How to color your rain cloud drawing
Try a soft gray or light blue for the cloud, with bright blue raindrops. For a creative twist, color the two rainbow arches in your favorite colors.
Rain cloud fun fact for kids
A falling raindrop is not really shaped like a teardrop. Small raindrops are nearly round, and bigger ones are flatter on the bottom, a bit like a hamburger bun. The pointy teardrop is just how we like to draw them.
