Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The round head
Draw a big circle that is a little wider than it is tall. This is the bee's head, so leave plenty of room below it for the body.
Step 3: The fat body
Draw a big round oval below the head, but only draw its sides and bottom. Start the lines where the head meets the body on each side and curve them down and around, so the head stays in front.
Step 4: Two wings
Draw a tall, curvy leaf shape on each side of the head. Start each wing on the upper side of the head, sweep it up and outward, then curve back down to where the head meets the body.
Step 5: Two antennae
From the top of the head, draw two short curved lines that bend outward like little hooks. Each one starts on the head, just inside a wing, and curls up and out.
Step 6: Happy face
Draw two round dots for eyes in the middle of the head, side by side. Then add a small smile curve between and below them.
Step 7: Body stripes
Draw two gently curved lines across the body, one under the other. Each line starts on one side of the oval and ends on the other, with a little dip in the middle.
Step 8: The tiny stinger
At the bottom right of the body, draw a small pointed shape like a little curved triangle. It sticks out from the body like a tiny tail.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a bee
- Draw the head first and the body second, so the head sits in front and you never have to draw lines through it.
- Keep both wings about the same size by starting each one at the same height on the side of the head.
- Make the stripe lines dip a little in the middle, so the body looks round instead of flat.

Bee fun fact for kids
A honey bee has five eyes: two big ones on the sides of its head and three tiny ones on top.
Questions about drawing a bee
What shapes do I need to draw a bee?
You need a circle for the head, a big oval for the body, and two leaf shapes for the wings. The antennae and stripes are just curved lines, and the stinger is a small curved triangle.
How do I make my bee look cuter?
Make the head big and the eyes wide apart, then add a small smile low on the face. A round, chubby body makes it even cuter.
How do I draw the bee stripes so they look curved?
Start at one side of the body and let the line dip a little in the middle before it reaches the other side. Do the same for the second stripe, so both follow the round shape.
