How to draw a jellyfish step by step

How to Draw a Jellyfish · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The dome

Draw a big dome shape, like an upside-down bowl. Start at the lower left, curve up and over the top, and stop at the lower right, leaving the bottom open.

  3. Step 3: Face and wavy edge

Inside the dome, draw two little dots for eyes and a small curved smile between them. Then close the bottom with a wavy line of bumps that runs from the left side of the dome to the right side.

  4. Step 4: Two tentacles

Hang two long wiggly lines down from the wavy edge. Put one a little left of the middle and one a little right of the middle, and make them wiggle like squiggly ribbons.

  5. Step 5: Far left tentacle

Draw another long wiggly line hanging down from the wavy edge near the left side of the dome. Make it a little longer than the two you already drew.

  6. Step 6: Middle and right tentacles

Draw the longest wiggly line down from the middle of the wavy edge. Then add one more wiggly line near the right side to match the left.

  7. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a jellyfish

  • Sketch the dome lightly first so you can fix its shape before pressing hard.
  • Draw the wavy bottom edge as a row of small bumps, like tiny hills, so the tentacles have a place to start.
  • For the tentacles, draw slow S-shaped lines and try making some longer than others so they look like they are floating.
