How to draw an acorn and a leaf step by step

How to Draw an Acorn and a Leaf · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: Acorn body

Draw a rounded U shape like the bottom of an egg, with a tiny point at the very bottom. Leave the top open, because the cap will sit there.

  3. Step 3: Acorn cap

Draw a wide dome like a little hat across the top of the acorn. Finish it with a gently curved line along the bottom of the dome, where the cap meets the body.

  4. Step 4: Acorn stem

On top of the cap, draw a short curved stem, like a tiny hook. Start and end it on the top of the cap.

  5. Step 5: Top of the leaf

Next to the acorn, start at the cap's right edge and draw a zigzag line up to the top point of the leaf. Keep zigzagging down the right side, going out for pointy tips and back in between them, and stop near the bottom right.

  6. Step 6: Leaf bottom and stem

Start at the acorn's right side and draw zigzag points along the lower left edge of the leaf until you meet the end of your last line. Then draw a short line hanging down from the bottom of the leaf for its stem.

  7. Step 7: Happy face

Give the acorn two round dots for eyes, side by side. Add a small curved smile between them and just below.

  8. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing an acorn and a leaf

  • Draw the acorn body first and leave the top open. Then the cap fits on like a hat and the two shapes line up neatly.
  • The leaf is the trickiest part. Take it slowly: go out for a point, then back in for a dip.
  • Keep the two eyes about the same size and put the smile between them, just below. This makes the acorn look extra cute.
