Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The round body
Draw a big round blob, like a chubby egg. Start at the top, go around the left side and along the bottom, then curve up the right side and stop. Leave gaps at the top right and the bottom right.
Step 3: Tail fin
At the gap on the lower right, draw a fish tail like a bow tie with two pointy tips that open away from the body. Join the top of the tail to the right side of the body and the bottom of the tail to the bottom of the body.
Step 4: Side fins
On the left, draw a small curved loop sticking out of the body like a little ear. On the belly, draw a short curved hook for the other fin.
Step 5: The hat band
On top of the head, draw a long tilted rounded rectangle, like a fat sausage lying on its side. Draw two long lines for its top and bottom edges and close the ends with small curves.
Step 6: Hat top and tip
From the left end of the band, draw a big curved line up and over to the right, like a hill. Bring it down toward the right end of the band, then add a short bent line to make the floppy tip.
Step 7: The pompom
At the end of the floppy tip, draw a small circle for the pompom.
Step 8: Two round eyes
Below the hat band, draw two solid dots for eyes. Keep them the same size and a little way apart.
Step 9: A tiny smile
Between the eyes and a bit lower, draw a small wavy line with two little bumps, like a cat smile. It makes the shark look sweet.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a shark in a Santa hat
- Draw the hat band after the body so it can sit on top of the head. Tilt it down toward the right and it will look like it is resting on the shark.
- The tail is the trickiest part. Think of a bow tie with pointy ends, and join it neatly to the body.
- Keep the eyes and the smile small on the face. Two dots with a tiny smile between them make the shark look extra cute.
