Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The round head
Draw a circle near the top of your page for the snowman's head. Make it a little wider than it is tall, and leave room above for a hat.
Step 3: The round body
Draw a big curve below the head, starting on the left, swooping round the bottom and up the right side to make a bigger circle. Leave the top open so the head can sit on it.
Step 4: The top hat
Sit a wide, flat oval on top of the head for the brim. Add a tall hat shape above it and draw a band across the bottom of the hat.
Step 5: Nose, eye and smile
Draw a small dot for an eye, then a long skinny triangle for the carrot nose pointing sideways. Add a little curved smile under the nose.
Step 6: Scarf and buttons
Wrap a thick curved band around the neck where the head meets the body, and add stripes across it. Let one end fly up and out in a long strip with fringe on the tip. Then draw a small dot for the other eye and three little buttons down the tummy.
Step 7: Arms and mittens
Draw a stick arm reaching out on each side of the body below the scarf. At the end of each arm, draw a rounded mitten with a small thumb.
Step 8: Boots
At the bottom of the body, draw two chunky boots with criss-cross laces on top. Join them with a straight line, and add a few little dashes beside the left boot.
Step 9: The snowboard
Draw a long, skinny oval that tilts upward on the right, under the boots. Add a second line just inside it to show the edge of the board.
Step 10: Snow spray
Finish with a few little circles and curly dashes flying up near the front tip of the board. They show how fast the snowman is going.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a snowman on a snowboard
- Draw the head and body lightly at first, so you can fix them if they look lopsided before pressing harder.
- The snowboard is the trickiest part. Draw one long slanted oval, then add the second line just inside it so the board looks like it is zooming uphill on the right.
- Make the scarf stripes after the scarf shape is done, and let them curve around the neck like rings so the scarf looks wrapped.
