Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: Head and floppy ears
Draw a big, wide curve over the top for the head. Let it bend down on each side into a rounded, floppy ear that curls in at the bottom.
Step 3: Sides of the body
Under each ear, draw a long line going down for the side of the body. On the right, curve the line out and around to the bottom. On the left, let it run straight down toward the ground.
Step 4: Front legs
In the middle near the bottom, draw a short upside-down U shape made of two straight lines joined at the bottom for the inside of the legs. Add one more short line on the right for the edge of the other leg.
Step 5: Round paws
At the bottom of the legs, draw two wide, bumpy curves for the paws. Join each one to the leg lines so they sit flat on the ground.
Step 6: Back foot and tail
On the left, draw a rounded bump poking out at the bottom for the back foot. On the right, add a small curly hook for the tail.
Step 7: Eyes and smile
Between the ears, draw two round dots for eyes. Under them, draw a short line down with a little curve going up on each side to make a smile.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a cocker spaniel
- Draw the head and ears as one wide shape, with the ears hanging down on each side. Make them about the same length so the head looks balanced.
- The body gets wider toward the bottom. Draw the two side lines slowly and let them curve out a little.
- Place the eyes far apart with the smile centered between and just below them. Draw the dots first so you can line up the smile with them.
