How to draw a cube step by step

How to Draw a Cube · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: The cube outline

Draw a tall six-sided shape like a hexagon with slightly rounded corners. Make the top two sides slope down toward the middle at the top, and the bottom two sides slope up, with the left and right sides standing straight up.

  2. Step 2: The top face

Start at the top of the left side and draw a line sloping down to a point near the middle. Then draw a line from that point up to the top of the right side, to make the flat top of the cube.

  3. Step 3: The middle edge

Start at the point where your two top lines meet. Draw a straight line down to the bottom point of the cube to split the front into two sides.

  4. Step 4: Two round eyes

On the right side of the cube, draw two small round dots side by side. Make them a little apart, with the left one a bit lower than the right one.

  5. Step 5: A happy smile

Between and below the eyes, draw a small curved line like a smile. Make it a bowl shape, curving up at both ends.

  6. Step 6: A little sparkle

Near the top right corner of the right side, draw a small diamond with rounded points, like a twinkling star.

  7. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a cube

  • Keep the line down the middle straight. Use a ruler or the edge of a book if wobbly lines bother you.
  • Make the left and right sides of the outline about the same height so your cube does not look tipped over.
  • Draw the eyes and smile on the right side only, and keep the two eyes about the same size so the face looks friendly.

How to color your cube drawing

Try a different color for each side, such as light blue for the top, mint for the left, and yellow for the right, so the cube looks three-dimensional. Fill the eyes and smile with dark gray or black. For a creative twist, give your cube a pattern of dots like a die.

Cube fun fact for kids

A cube has 6 flat faces, 12 edges, and 8 corners. Dice are cubes, and so are many sugar lumps and building blocks.
