Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The head
Start with a big round circle for the head. Leave a tiny gap at the bottom where the neck will go.
Step 3: Hair
Draw a curved line across the top of the head with a little peak in the middle, like a tiny roof. This makes the hair.
Step 4: Face and neck
Add two dots for eyes and a small curved smile underneath. Then draw a small U shape under the chin for the neck.
Step 5: Shirt, arms and legs
Draw rounded shoulders out from the neck and the shirt sides going down to a curved belt line. Add the hanging arm on the left with a small circle for the hand, a short sleeve curving up on the right, and two long straight lines down from the belt for the legs.
Step 6: The waving hand
At the top of the raised sleeve on the right, draw a circle for the hand. Join it to the sleeve with a short curved line.
Step 7: Sleeve and wrist
On the hanging arm, draw two short lines across it. One makes the edge of the sleeve near the top, and one makes the wrist just above the hand.
Step 8: One leg and shoe
Draw a long straight line down inside one leg, starting under the belt. At the bottom, add a rounded shoe shape with a flat bottom.
Step 9: Legs and second shoe
Draw a short line down the middle to split the legs, and add the flat-bottomed shoe on the other foot. Finish with a short line across the top of the second shoe.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a person
- Draw the head circle first and keep it big. The body is easier to fit under a large head.
- The waving hand is a circle joined to the sleeve by a short curved line. Draw the circle first, then connect it.
- Make both legs the same length by stopping at the same spot on your paper, then add the shoes last.
