Step 1: Head and first ear
Draw a rounded shape for the head, like an upside-down bowl with the bottom left open. Add a small dot for the eye, then draw a short slanted line going up from the top right of the head.
Step 2: The body
To the right of the head, draw a long curved line stretching right for the top of the body. Draw another long curved line below it for the bottom of the body.
Step 3: The neck
Under the head, draw a tall, rounded tube like a fat finger with a curved bottom. Its top touches the head and its right side meets the front of the body.
Step 4: Snout and knot
Draw a short, rounded tube sticking out to the left from the head for the snout. At the left tip, add a tiny oval for the knot of the balloon.
Step 5: Two long ears
On top of the head, finish the ears by drawing a second long, skinny tube beside the first line. Make them lean to the right like two bumpy pills side by side.
Step 6: Four legs
Under the body, draw four tall, narrow tubes with rounded, bumpy bottoms. Make the one on the far right a little wider than the other three.
Step 7: The tail
At the right end of the body, draw a tall tube that leans slightly to the right. Put a small oval knot on its top.
Step 8: Foot knots
Draw a short line across the bottom of each foot to make a small flat knot. This shows where the balloon was tied off.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a balloon dog
- Leave room under the body for four legs before you draw them. Keep them about the same height so the dog stands steady.
- The ears are the trickiest part. Draw one long tube, then draw the second right beside it, leaning the same way.
- Give every tube round ends, like a sausage. Sharp corners make it look like a pipe instead of a balloon.

Balloon dog fun fact for kids
Balloon animals are made by twisting long, skinny balloons. Each twist pinches the balloon into a separate bubble.
Questions about drawing a balloon dog
What shapes do I need to draw a balloon dog?
You need long tubes with round ends, a rounded head with a dot for the eye, and a few tiny ovals for the knots. Everything else is made by joining those shapes.
How do I make my balloon dog look more like a real balloon?
Keep every line smooth and rounded. Add small knots at the tip of the snout, the top of the tail, and the bottom of each foot.
Why does my balloon dog look wobbly?
Try sketching each tube lightly with a pencil first, then trace over it. Lining up the four legs under the body also helps the dog look steady.
