A lacrosse player is a fun first character because almost everything is a simple shape. The helmet is a dome, the body is a rounded box, the shoes are ovals, and the stick ends in a big round net. You can draw it one shape at a time and end up with a friendly little athlete.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The helmet
Draw a wide dome shape like half an egg for the top of the helmet. Add a straight line down the middle of the dome, then a flat bar across the bottom with a short tail curving down at each end.
Step 3: Headband and net ring
Under the helmet, draw a long flat line for the headband, and a short curved line below it for the chin. Up in the top right corner, draw a big round shape for the lacrosse net.
Step 4: Helmet side straps
Draw a short curved line down each side of the helmet, starting at the bar and ending near the cheeks. These are the chin straps.
Step 5: The jersey body
Under the chin, draw the shirt as a tall rounded box. Start with the right side going down, then draw the left side and a bumpy line along the bottom.
Step 6: Two arms
On the left side of the shirt, draw a curved arm line ending in a little hook for the hand. On the right side, draw a curved line that arcs out and down for the other arm.
Step 7: Face, ears and number
Add a small circle on each side of the helmet for ears, two dots for eyes, and a little smile. Draw a curved line under the chin, an 8 made of two stacked circles on the shirt, and finish each arm with a hand circle.
Step 8: Two shoes
At the bottom of the shirt, draw two flat ovals side by side so they overlap a little in the middle for the shoes.
Step 9: The lacrosse stick
Start at the bottom of the round net and draw one long straight line sloping down to the left. Make it pass through the right hand circle and end below the hand.
Step 10: The net lines
Inside the net ring, draw a line down the middle with a small circle on it. Then add two curved lines across the net, one on each side of the circle, for the netting.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a lacrosse player
- Draw the helmet dome first and keep it wide, so there is room for the headband and face underneath it.
- The big round net ring is drawn early, in the top right corner. Leave space for it, and add the middle line and curved netting at the very end.
- Draw the stick as one long straight line from the bottom of the net through the hand circle. If your line wobbles, use a ruler or the side of a book.
