Step 1: Head and outer arms
Start with a big rounded dome for the head, like an upside-down bowl. At the bottom corners, pinch the line in a little, then sweep it outward into two long arms that each end in a tiny curl.
Step 2: Left inner arms
Draw three long wavy lines hanging down from under the head, on the left side of the middle. Finish the end of each one with a small curl, like a question mark.
Step 3: Right inner arms
Now draw three wavy arms on the right side of the middle to match the left ones. Curl the tip of each one at the bottom.
Step 4: Eyes and smile
Place two round dots for eyes on the head, one on the left and one on the right. Halfway between them and a bit lower, draw a small curved smile.
Step 5: Rosy cheeks
Draw a small oval on each side of the face, just below and outside each eye.
Step 6: Little spots
Dot a few tiny spots on the arms with the tip of your pencil. Put some on the outer arms and some on the inner arms.
Step 7: Floating bubbles
Up in the top right corner, draw one bigger circle. Add a smaller circle just above and to the right of it, like bubbles floating up.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a baby octopus
- Draw the head dome first and leave plenty of room underneath, because the arms need space to wiggle.
- Sketch each inner arm as a slow S shape before you press hard, then add the curl at the very end. The curls are the trickiest part, so practice one on scrap paper first.
- Try to keep the left and right arms about the same length so your octopus looks balanced. Draw three inner arms on each side, plus one outer arm on each side.

An octopus has three hearts and blue blood. Two hearts send blood to the gills, and the third sends it to the rest of the body.
