A duck holding an umbrella is a funny little scene, and it is simple to draw. It is built from ovals, a few curved lines, and one big bumpy dome. Once you have the round head and body, the umbrella is just a dome on a stick.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: Top of the head
Draw a curved line like an upside-down bowl, wider than it is tall. Stop at both ends so the bottom of the head is left open for now.
Step 3: The round body
Under the head, draw a rounded egg shape for the body, a little narrower than the head. Start with a curved line across the top that dips down in the middle, then draw the sides and the bottom.
Step 4: Eyes and beak
Draw two small dots for eyes, one on each side of the face. Between them, a little lower, draw a flat oval for the beak.
Step 5: Arm and belly lines
On the right side of the body, draw a bent arm sticking out sideways with a rounded end for the hand. Then add two tiny curved lines on the left side of the belly.
Step 6: Legs and boots
Under the body, draw two short straight legs. At the bottom of each leg, draw a flat boot that points outward.
Step 7: The umbrella pole
Draw a long straight line going up, passing through the hand. Below the hand, curve the bottom into a hook like the letter J. Add a tiny dash high above the line.
Step 8: The umbrella top
Connect the top of the pole to a wide dome made of three scallops, like a bumpy rainbow. Add two curved lines from the tip down to the scallop points, and two tiny lines on the left edge pointing toward the head.
Step 9: Rain and ground
Draw a long curved line under the boots for the ground. Then add a few little raindrops around the picture, each one a tiny oval.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a duck with an umbrella
- Start with two light ovals for the head and body, then draw the duck over them. It keeps the duck from looking lopsided.
- The umbrella top is the trickiest part. Draw the three scallops side by side, then add the two lines from the tip down to the scallop points.
- Keep the umbrella close to the head but not covering it. A few tiny lines between them make it look like the duck is standing underneath.

Duck with an umbrella fun fact for kids
Ducks have a special gland near their tail that makes oil. They spread it over their feathers with their bills, and it helps water roll right off.
