A Pegasus is a horse with a big feathery wing, and it is easier to draw than it looks. This one starts with an oval for the head, a curved line for the neck, and a leaf shape for the wing. Once you have those, the rest is just a few simple lines.

How to draw a Pegasus step by step

How to Draw a Pegasus · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The head

Draw a sideways oval for the head, tilted a little, with the nose end on the left. Stop the line just before it closes at the top right, so there is a tiny gap.

  3. Step 3: Neck and belly curve

Start under the chin and draw a long curved line down for the front of the neck. Then, lower down, draw a wide curve like a smile for the bottom of the belly.

  4. Step 4: The big wing

Start near the back of the head and draw a short wiggly line down. Then sweep a big curve up high and around like a leaf, with a bumpy outer edge like soft feathers.

  5. Step 5: Wing feathers

Inside the wing, draw two long curved lines that follow the shape of the wing. Start them near the top and stop before the bottom.

  6. Step 6: Four legs

Draw four legs hanging down from the belly curve, each one a tall skinny rectangle. Add a short line across the bottom of each leg for a hoof. Draw a curved line on each side to join the belly to the wing and neck.

  7. Step 7: Back and tail

Draw a flat line for the back, from under the wing out to the right. Keep going with a long curve that swoops out and down to a pointy tip, then add a second curve inside it to make the tail thick.

  8. Step 8: Ears, eye and mane

Draw two little pointy ears on top of the head and a round dot for the eye. Add a wiggly zigzag line down the back of the neck for the mane, and a curve to finish the top of the body.

  9. Step 9: Bumpy ground

Under the hooves, draw a wavy line of little hills for the grass. Close it off with a long flat line along the bottom.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a Pegasus

  • Draw the head, neck and belly curve first. The wing, legs and back all connect to them, so they work like an anchor.
  • The wing is the trickiest part. Take your time with the bumpy outer edge, and make each bump small and soft like a feather.
  • Make the four legs about the same length and stop them just above the wavy ground line so your Pegasus stands steady.
