Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Tower walls
Draw two tall lines that lean in a little toward the top. Join them at the bottom with a gently curved line, like a tall cup with no top.
Step 3: The pointy roof
Draw a gently curved line across the top of the walls, a little wider than the tower. Then draw two slanted lines from its ends that meet in a point, like a party hat.
Step 4: The tiny flag
At the tip of the roof, draw a very small curl, like a tiny flag blowing in the wind.
Step 5: The arched window
In the middle of the tower, draw a tall upside-down U shape. At each bottom end, add a short line going outward to make the window's flat base.
Step 6: Rapunzel's head
Inside the window, draw a smaller upside-down U for the top of her head. Leave the bottom open, where her hair will come out.
Step 7: The long braid
Start at the open bottom of her head and draw two wobbly lines curving down the tower, like a long sausage. Close the bottom with a rounded end.
Step 8: The grassy ground
Draw a wavy line along the bottom on the left of the tower, then another on the right. Let them touch the walls and stretch out wide.
Step 9: Face and fun details
Add two dots for eyes and a tiny nose below them. Draw little zigzags across the braid and short dashes for bricks on both sides of the tower.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Rapunzel's tower
- Draw the two tower walls so they lean in slightly at the top. A tower with slightly slanted sides looks tall and sturdy.
- Make the window an upside-down U, then draw a smaller upside-down U inside it for her head. Leave the bottom of the head open so the braid can start there.
- Draw the braid as two wobbly lines that stay about the same distance apart. Then add small zigzags across it to look like woven hair.

Rapunzel's tower fun fact for kids
The fairy tale of Rapunzel was published by the Brothers Grimm in their first collection of stories in 1812. Her name comes from a German word for a leafy plant called rampion.
Questions about drawing Rapunzel's tower
What shapes do I need to draw Rapunzel's tower?
You need a tall cup-like shape for the walls, a triangle for the roof, an upside-down U for the window, and a smaller upside-down U for Rapunzel's head. The braid is just a long, wobbly sausage shape.
How do I make the braid look long and wavy?
Draw two wobbly lines side by side, starting at her head. Keep them about the same distance apart so the braid stays the same width all the way down, then add small zigzags across it.
How do I make my tower look taller?
Make the walls much taller than they are wide, and slant them a little toward the top. Adding short rows of brick dashes also helps your eye travel up the tower.
