The three little pigs are fun to draw because they are almost made of circles. Each pig is a round head on a round tummy with pointy triangle ears, and the house above them is just a rectangle with a triangle on top. Once you can draw circles and triangles, you can draw the whole story.

How to draw the three little pigs step by step

How to Draw the Three Little Pigs · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: House and roof

Draw a big rectangle for the walls in the middle of the top of your page. Add a triangle roof sitting on top, with the roof's bottom line sticking out a little on each side.

  2. Step 2: Chimney, windows, door

Draw a small tall rectangle on the roof for the chimney. Add two circles for round windows, then a little arch shape at the bottom for the door.

  3. Step 3: Heads and ears

Under the house, draw three round heads side by side, each with two pointy triangle ears. On the left pig, also add two eyes, two tiny nose dots and a small curved smile, then start its body and feet. Leave the bottoms of the other two heads open.

  4. Step 4: Round bodies

Draw curved side lines under each head to make the pigs' round tummies and arms. The middle pig's body tucks up right under the house.

  5. Step 5: Snouts

Draw a small oval in the middle of each face for the snout.

  6. Step 6: Eyes and outfits

Give the middle and right pigs tiny dots for eyes and nostrils. Then dress them: add stripes and little feet on the middle pig, and a block pattern of bricks and feet on the right pig. Draw a wavy line in the basket held by the left pig.

  7. Step 7: Tummy curves

Draw a curved line along the bottom of the left pig's tummy and another along the bottom of the middle pig's tummy to finish their round shapes.

  8. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing the three little pigs

  • Draw the heads with a little gap between them, so the pigs do not bump into each other.
  • Make the snout a small oval about halfway down the face, so it looks like a real pig nose.
  • The outfits are the trickiest part, so draw the simple straight lines for bricks or stripes first and the wavy line in the basket last.

The story of the three little pigs is more than 150 years old. In the tale, the pig who builds a house from bricks is the one the wolf cannot blow down.

Questions about drawing the three little pigs

What shapes do I need to draw the three little pigs?

You need circles for the heads, bodies, and windows, triangles for the ears and roof, and rectangles for the house and chimney. Ovals make the snouts.

How do I make my pigs look cuter?

Make the heads big and round, and keep the eyes small and wide apart. A little curved smile makes them look happy.

Do I have to draw the house first?

It helps. The house gives you a guide for where the pigs go, so you can tuck the middle pig right under it.
