How to Draw Seaweed (Easy Step by Step)
Seaweed is a fun first drawing because it is mostly wiggly, wavy lines with no tricky details. This one is built from a low bumpy mound for the sand, three long leaf shapes that curve like the letter S, and two round bubbles. If you can draw a wave, you can draw seaweed.

Step 1: The sandy mound
Draw a low, flat mound near the bottom of the page. Make the bottom a long flat curve and the top a gently bumpy hill, like a pile of sand.
Step 2: The tall middle blade
Start on top of the sand mound and draw a wavy line up to a pointy tip near the top of the page. Then wiggle back down the other side to the sand, like a long, curvy leaf.
Step 3: The left blade
On the left, start at the sand and swoop out in a big round belly, then wiggle up to a pointy tip. Curve the other side back down to the sand, close to the middle blade.
Step 4: The right blade
On the right, start at the sand and draw another wavy leaf that bulges out and rises to a point. Make it a little shorter than the middle one.
Step 5: The small bubble
Draw a small circle floating in the gap between the left and middle blades.
Step 6: The second bubble
Draw a slightly bigger circle up high, in the space between the tips of the middle and right blades.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing seaweed
- Draw each blade in one slow, smooth motion, like tracing an S in the air. Wobbly lines still look like moving water.
- Draw the middle blade first, then add the left and right blades beside it so they have room.
- Let every blade end in a sharp point at the top and meet the sand at the bottom, so they look like they are growing from it.

How to color your seaweed drawing
Try different greens for each blade, with a yellow or tan color for the sand and light blue for the bubbles. For a creative twist, color the whole background like deep ocean water.
Seaweed fun fact for kids
Seaweed is not a plant. It is a kind of algae, and it holds on to rocks with a root-like grip called a holdfast.
