Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The halo
Start at the top middle and draw a small, flat oval, like a squished ring floating above where the wings will go. Keep it much wider than it is tall.
Step 3: Left wing top
On the left side, draw a puffy cloud outline with several round bumps along the top. Curve the line down on both sides and stop before the bottom, so the cloud stays open underneath.
Step 4: Right wing top
On the right side, draw a matching puffy cloud outline with bumps along the top. Curve it down on both sides and leave the bottom open, with a small gap between the two clouds.
Step 5: Left feather row
Under the left cloud, draw a row of rounded feather tips hanging down like little scallops. Add short curved lines up from the cloud bumps so each feather looks tucked in.
Step 6: Right feather row
Under the right cloud, draw the same row of rounded feather tips hanging down. Add short curved lines up from the cloud bumps so they match the left side.
Step 7: Long feather edge
At the bottom left, start under the feather row and draw one long curved line going straight down. Hook the end a little to the right to start the tip of a long feather.
Step 8: Second long feather
Next to that line, draw a long narrow U shape that hangs down and overlaps it a little. Round the bottom so it looks like a long feather tip.
Step 9: Right long feathers
On the right wing, draw two long, narrow feathers hanging down side by side, with the rounded bottoms touching. Make them about as long as the ones on the left wing.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing angel wings
- Draw the halo as a flat oval first. It looks best when it is much wider than it is tall.
- The puffy tops are the trickiest part, so make a row of round bumps like a cloud and keep them about the same size.
- Draw the left wing first, then copy it on the right. Check that the long feathers hang down to about the same height on both sides.

Angel wings fun fact for kids
Feathers help birds fly, and the long feathers at the tips of a bird's wing are called flight feathers.
