How to Draw an Octopus Mom and Baby (Easy Step by Step)
An octopus mom hugging her babies is a sweet drawing that is easier than it looks. It is built from a big round head, two small baby heads, and a few curvy lines for the tentacles. Once the big head is down, everything else tucks in around it.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Mom's big head
Draw a big, round curve for mom's head near the top of your page. Start at the lower left, curve up and over the top, and stop at the lower right, leaving the bottom open.
Step 3: Mom's sweet face
Add two solid oval eyes low on her head, with space between them. Then draw a tiny wiggly smile between the eyes, like a little letter w.
Step 4: Two baby heads
On the left, draw a curved line that starts at mom's cheek, bumps out to the left and curls down. On the right, draw a rounded arch that starts at mom's cheek and curls down beside her. These are the tops of the two baby heads.
Step 5: Baby faces
Give each baby tiny dot eyes. On the left baby, add a small dash next to the dot for the other eye. Keep the faces small.
Step 6: Baby arms
On the left, draw a thin waving arm shaped like a leaf with a bent tip, off to the side of the baby. On the right, draw a rounded curve under the baby's face, like a little arm tucked under its chin.
Step 7: Hugging tentacles
On the left, draw a curved line down the side of the baby and keep going into a long tentacle that sweeps out to the left with a rounded tip. On the right, draw a curvy tentacle that sweeps out to the right from under the baby, with a rounded tip.
Step 8: Bottom tentacles
Draw the wavy tentacles at the bottom, starting under mom's body and flowing down. Make them different lengths with rounded tips, and let a couple of them peek out behind the others.
Step 9: A floating heart
Draw a small heart up in the empty space on the left side of mom's head. Color it in solid.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing an octopus mom and baby
- Draw mom's head first and a bit large. The baby heads tuck in at her sides, so leave room on both sides of the page.
- The tentacles are the trickiest part. Draw each one as a long, bendy shape that is wide near the body and rounder at the tip.
- Keep the baby faces very small. Tiny dots for eyes make them look extra tiny and cute next to mom.

Octopus mom and baby fun fact for kids
An octopus has three hearts and blue blood. Two hearts pump blood to the gills, and the third pumps it to the rest of the body.
