Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Hair outline
Start with a wavy line across the top of the head, dipping into a little peak in the middle for the part. Then curve the hair down the right side to the ear, and draw a short hairline down the left side of the face.
Step 3: The ponytail
Start at the top left of the head and draw a long swoopy shape down the left side, ending in a curled tip. Add a second curved line inside it so the ponytail looks thick.
Step 4: Bangs and ponytail lines
Draw a few thin curved lines sweeping down from the part to each side of the bangs. Add long thin lines along the ponytail that follow its curve.
Step 5: Eyes and ear
Draw two round dots for eyes, with a small curved eyebrow above each one. Add a little curl for the ear on the left, and a few more short hair lines near the top.
Step 6: Nose and smile
Draw a tiny curvy line in the middle of the face for the nose. Under it, draw a small open smile shaped like a bowl, with a line across the top.
Step 7: Neck and collar
Draw two short lines down from the chin for the neck, then a round curve for the neckline. Stretch the shoulders out to each side like a gentle hill.
Step 8: Sleeve and arm
On the left, draw a short, boxy sleeve at the end of the shoulder. Then add a long, slightly slanted line going down for the side of the arm.
Step 9: The waving arm
On the right, start at the shoulder and draw a bent arm that goes down to the elbow and then curves up. Draw the other side of the arm beside it, and leave the top open for the hand.
Step 10: Hand and fingers
At the top of the arm, draw a small rounded palm. Add four short fingers on top, each shaped like a skinny loop, fanning out a little.
Step 11: Shirt and skirt
Draw a curved line down the side of the shirt, then a band for the waist. Under it, draw a skirt with long lines flaring out like folds.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a woman
- The waving hand is the trickiest part. Draw the palm as a small rounded shape first, then add the four fingers as skinny loops that fan out a little.
- Draw the ponytail as one long curve first, then add the thin hair lines inside. Following the curve with each line keeps the hair flowing.
- Keep the two eye dots the same size and at the same height, with a small space between them.

How to color your woman drawing

Woman fun fact for kids
Each human hand has 27 bones, and about half of them are in the wrist and palm.
