This little vulture is built from mostly round shapes: a big dome-shaped head, a round body, and a wavy collar of fluffy feathers. It sits on a branch with its wing tucked in, and the big dot eyes make it look friendly instead of scary. If you can draw circles and bumpy lines, you can draw this bird.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The round head
Draw a big, wide dome near the top of your page, like an egg with a flat-ish bottom. Start at the left, curve up and over the top, then come down the right side and close the bottom with a gentle curve to make the chin.
Step 3: The body outline
Start at the left side of the head, curve out in a little bump, then sweep down and around to make a big round tummy. Finish with a flatter line along the bottom that curls up slightly at the right end.
Step 4: The fluffy collar
Draw a wavy row of little bumps across the body just under the head, like tiny hills. Add a small puffy curl on the right side of the head where the collar sticks out.
Step 5: The wing
On the right side, draw a curved line that starts at the collar and sweeps down toward the bottom of the body. Then draw a second long curve just outside it, ending in a little flick at the bottom.
Step 6: Two round eyes
Halfway down the head, draw two round dots, one on the left and one on the right. Make them the same size and at the same height.
Step 7: The little beak
Between the eyes, draw a small rounded shape like an upside-down U. Add a short curved line across it, then a tiny rounded shape underneath for the lower beak.
Step 8: The feet
At the bottom of the body, draw two little feet, each with a few small round toes. Add a couple of short lines near the bottom of the wing on the right.
Step 9: The branch
Draw a long, bumpy branch under the feet, using two lines that stay close together. Make the right end round and add a small forked twig on the left.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a vulture
- Draw the head large and wide first. Everything else is sized to fit under it, so a big head keeps the bird cute.
- The wavy collar is the trickiest part. Draw it as a row of little hills, and make each bump about the same size.
- Make the two eyes the same size. Draw the dots at the same height, with the beak halfway between them.

How to color your vulture drawing
Try dark brown for the body and wing, a light pink or gray head, and a yellow beak. For a creative twist, give your vulture a rainbow collar, or add a nest with eggs on the branch.
Vulture fun fact for kids
Many kinds of vultures have bald or nearly bald heads, which helps keep them clean when they eat. Vultures also help nature by eating animals that have already died.
