Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The leafy treetop
Draw a big, puffy cloud shape for the leaves, with round bumps along the top and sides. Leave the bottom open in the middle, because the trunk and house will go there.
Step 3: The ground
Near the bottom of the page, draw a long, gently curved line for the grass. Everything else will stand on it.
Step 4: The tree trunk
Start on the grass and draw two curved lines going up, a little apart. Make them wider at the bottom and a bit narrower at the top, so they reach up into the open space under the leaves.
Step 5: Platform and ladder frame
Draw a long flat line across the top of the trunk, sticking out a little on both sides, for the floor. At its right end, draw a tall, thin rectangle that hangs down all the way to the grass.
Step 6: The house walls
Draw two short straight lines going up from the platform, one on the left and one on the right. Leave space between them for the window and door.
Step 7: The pointy roof
Draw a flat line across the top of the walls, a little wider than the house. Then draw a triangle on top of it, with its point in the middle.
Step 8: Window and door
Inside the house, draw a small square on the left for the window. Next to it, draw an upside-down U shape that sits on the platform for the round door.
Step 9: The ladder rungs
Inside the tall thin rectangle on the right, draw three short straight lines across, spaced evenly, to make the steps of the ladder.
Step 10: The flag
Draw a short straight pole going up from the tip of the roof. At the top, add a little triangle that points off to one side like a waving flag.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a treehouse
- Draw the leafy cloud first and keep the bottom open in the middle. That gives you a clear space to fit the trunk and house inside.
- Make the trunk wider at the bottom than at the top. Two lines that lean slightly outward will make it look sturdy.
- Draw the three ladder rungs about the same distance apart. Make one near the top and one near the bottom, then put the third in the middle.

Treehouse fun fact for kids
Builders often attach treehouses with special large bolts made for the job. They hold the house up while still letting the tree sway and keep growing.
Questions about drawing a treehouse
What shapes do I need to draw a treehouse?
You need a cloud shape for the leaves, a triangle for the roof, a square for the window, and an upside-down U for the door. The trunk, walls, and ladder are made of straight and gently curved lines.
How do I make my treehouse look cozier?
Add a round door, a flag on top, and a ladder so it feels like a real hideout. You can also color the leaves in your favorite colors.
Why does my tree trunk look wobbly?
Try drawing the two sides slowly and starting both from the grass. Keep them the same height, and let them curve out a little at the bottom.
