How to Draw a Gummy Bear (Easy Step by Step)
A gummy bear is one of the easiest animal characters to draw because it is made of soft curves with no sharp corners. You will use one big oval for the head, two small loops for ears, long curved lines for the plump body and feet, and two little loops for arms. It is a fun first drawing for beginners.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The head
Draw a big wide oval near the top of your page. This is the bear's round, squishy head.
Step 3: Two round ears
Add a small curved loop on each top corner of the head. Let each loop start and end on the head so the ears look tucked behind it.
Step 4: Body and feet
Start under each side of the head and draw a long curved line down to make the plump tummy. At the bottom, finish each line with a round bump for a foot, and join the feet with a little arch between them.
Step 5: Little arms
Draw a small rounded loop on each side of the body, like a mitten. Start and end each loop on the body line.
Step 6: Eyes and smile
Fill in two round dots for eyes, spaced evenly in the middle of the face. Under them, draw a small curved smile like a tiny bowl.
Step 7: Tummy curve
Draw one short curved line on the left side of the tummy. It makes the bear look shiny and round like a real gummy.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a gummy bear
- Sketch the head and body as light ovals first, then draw the final lines over them. This keeps the bear from turning out lopsided.
- The feet are the trickiest part. Draw two round bumps side by side and make the small arch between them curve upward.
- Place the eyes close to the middle of the face and keep the smile small. Round dots set wide apart make the bear look cuter.

Gummy bear fun fact for kids
Gummy bears were invented in Germany in 1922 by Hans Riegel, the founder of the Haribo candy company. He first called them dancing bears, because he based them on the bears that performed at street fairs.
