How to Draw a Goldendoodle (Easy Step by Step)
A goldendoodle is a great first dog to draw because it is mostly soft, round shapes. You start with one big cloud-shaped head, add a rounded body, and finish with two dot eyes and a little smile. There are no sharp corners to worry about, so wobbly lines just look like curly fur.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: Fluffy head and ears
Draw a bumpy, cloud-like line for the top of the head. Start at the left, curve up and over the top, and swoop down and in on the right to make two floppy ears. Leave the bottom of the head open.
Step 3: Chin and cheek fluff
Draw a wavy line across the bottom of the head for the fluffy chin. Then add a short curve on the right side that goes up from the chin to join the ear.
Step 4: Body sides
Under the head, draw a curved line down the left side and another down the right side, starting at the chin. Let each one bulge out and curve in at the bottom for the back legs. Leave a gap in the middle of the bottom.
Step 5: Face and left cheek
Draw two round dots for eyes, spaced wide apart. Add a tiny smile shaped like a little letter w in the middle, just below the eyes. Then draw a short curve on the left side of the face, from the ear down to the chin, to match the right side.
Step 6: Outer front legs
Draw a short line near the bottom of the body on the left and another on the right. Each one goes down toward the ground, just inside the curve of the back legs, to mark the outer edges of the front legs.
Step 7: Front paws
In the middle of the bottom, draw two short straight lines side by side. Join them with a small flat line, then curve a soft line from the right one out to the right to finish the round paws.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a goldendoodle
- Sketch light ovals for the head and body first, then draw the bumps for curly fur along the top of the head. Bumpy lines are easier than they look, because you just draw little bumps one after another.
- Keep the ears wide and floppy, and make both sides about the same size. If one ear comes out bigger, add extra fluff on the smaller side so they look even.
- Draw the eyes as round dots with space between them, and keep the smile small. Small features on a big fluffy head make the dog look extra cute.

How to color your goldendoodle drawing
Try golden yellow or apricot, with a slightly darker shade on the ears and in the curls. For a creative twist, make a rainbow doodle with a different color on each fluffy bump.
Goldendoodle fun fact for kids
A goldendoodle is a mix of a golden retriever and a poodle. People began breeding them in North America in the early 1990s.
Questions about drawing a goldendoodle
What shapes do I need to draw a goldendoodle?
You need a large oval for the head and a smaller oval for the body as light guides. Then draw a bumpy, cloud-like outline over the head, and add two dots for the eyes.
How do I draw curly fur?
Draw the outline as a row of small bumps, like a string of little clouds. Lift your pencil often and let the bumps be uneven, because real curls are never perfect.
How do I make my goldendoodle look cuter?
Make the head big and the body small, and put the eyes wide apart. Add a small smile to give your dog a happy face.
