A dog standing on two legs and waving is a friendly, silly character, and it is easier to draw than it looks. The dog is drawn as one wobbly outline: a floppy ear on each side, a waving arm, two feet, and a little tail. Wobbly lines are welcome here, because they make the dog look soft and fluffy.

How to draw a dog standing on two legs step by step

How to Draw a Dog Standing on Two Legs · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Left ear and side

Start near the top middle and draw a wobbly line going left. Let it bump out into a round, floppy ear, then bring it back in and wiggle it down the left side, ending in a little curl.

  2. Step 2: Right ear

Start a little to the right of where the first line began and draw the top of the head going right. Make a big round bump for the second ear, then curve the line back in and down a little way.

  3. Step 3: Waving arm

Start at the right side under the ear and draw a bent arm that loops up and around into a rounded paw, like the dog is saying hello. Then let the line wiggle down the right side of the body.

  4. Step 4: The feet

At the bottom, draw a wavy line from the right side of the body going left. Make two flat feet with a gentle hump between them for the space between the legs.

  5. Step 5: Left leg

Start just under the curl on the left side and draw a wobbly line down. Connect it to the left end of the feet line.

  6. Step 6: The little tail

On the left side, draw a skinny leaf shape that sticks out from the body for the tail.

  7. Step 7: Happy face

Draw two tiny dots for the eyes. Below them, draw a small curvy smile, and add a U shape under it for the tongue.

  8. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a dog standing on two legs

  • Draw slowly and let your pencil wiggle. The bumpy line is what makes the dog look fluffy.
  • The waving arm is the trickiest part. Start at the body, loop up and around, and end with a round paw before you go down the side.
  • Keep the face small. Two dots, a little smile, and a tongue are all the dog needs to look happy.
