Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Body outline
Draw a big pear shape that is narrow at the top and wide at the bottom. Start with two tiny curls at the top for the ear tips, draw down each side, and finish with a flat bottom that has a few small bumps for feet.
Step 3: Top of head and ears
Draw a gently curved line across the top of the body to make the top of the head. At each end, add a small round bump for an ear.
Step 4: Eyes and nose
Draw two small solid dots for eyes, wide apart. Between them, lower down, draw a short straight line for the nose with two tiny slanted dashes at the top, like a little Y.
Step 5: Top and bottom of heart
In the middle of the tummy, draw two round bumps side by side for the top of a heart. Below them, draw a wide V shape for the bottom point. Leave small gaps at the sides.
Step 6: Left paw
On the left side of the heart, draw a curvy hook that bends around the edge of the heart. It fills the gap and looks like a paw hugging the heart.
Step 7: Right paw
On the right side of the heart, draw a matching curvy hook around the edge, with one tiny dash sticking out for a finger. Now both paws hold the heart.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a capybara holding a heart
- Start with a light, wide oval to guide you, then draw the body outline over it. A wide, round bottom makes your capybara look chubby and cute.
- The heart is the trickiest part. Draw the two top bumps the same size, then bring the bottom V down to one point.
- Draw the paws last so they hook around the edges of the heart. Curvy lines that wrap the edge look like a real hug.
