A baseball catcher is fun to draw because of the big round helmet and the giant mitt, which are both easy shapes. You will build this one from a dome, a circle and a few rounded boxes. The cage across the face is just a few straight and curved bars, so it looks tricky but is not.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Helmet dome
Draw a big curved dome for the top of the helmet, like the top half of a circle. Then draw a smaller curved line inside it, and add a little hook on the right side for the back of the helmet.
Step 3: Face mask bars
Draw one curved bar straight across the helmet, then a tall bar down the middle that crosses it. Add a short bar low on the left and a curved bar down the right side to finish the cage.
Step 4: Two round eyes
Draw two round dots behind the mask, one on each side of the middle bar. Make them the same size so your catcher looks friendly.
Step 5: Chin, shoulder, and fist
Under the mask, draw a curved line for the chin and a long line down the left for the side of the body. Add a puffy bump on the right for the shoulder and a small curl at the bottom right to start the fist.
Step 6: The big mitt
On the left, draw a big circle for the catcher's mitt. Next to it, add a few short curved lines to show the thumb and the wrist.
Step 7: Legs and boots
Below the body, draw two short legs with a rounded boot at the bottom of each. Add a line across the top of each leg and a curved line to join the legs together.
Step 8: Finishing details
Add more cage bars on the helmet, a small ring for the ear guard on the right, and little stitch marks on the mitt. Then draw the padded arm lines on both sides and a curved line across each knee pad.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a baseball catcher
- Start the helmet with a light curved dome, then draw the mask bars inside it so they all curve the same way.
- The big mitt can look lopsided, so sketch a plain circle first and add the thumb lines afterward.
- Draw both boots about the same size and keep them at the bottom of the page so your catcher looks like they are crouching.
