Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The big round head
Draw a big, wide curve for the head, like an oval that is open at the bottom. Start low on the left side, go up and over the top, and stop low on the right side.
Step 3: The hair bun
On top of the head, draw a small half circle that sits like a ball on a hat. Let both ends of the curve touch the top of the head.
Step 4: Hair and glasses
Draw a wavy curve across the forehead for her hair, with a little dip in the middle. Then draw two small circles side by side under it for the glasses.
Step 5: Face and top
Put a dot in the middle of each glasses circle, join the circles with a short bridge, and add a short line from each circle out to the side of the head. Draw a little smile below, then sketch her collar, a crossed X on her chest, and a small belt below it.
Step 6: Sleeves and skirt
Draw a curved line down each side of her body for the arms. Then draw a wide line across the bottom that flares out, like the hem of a skirt.
Step 7: Feet
Draw two flat ovals side by side at the bottom for her shoes. Let them nearly touch in the middle.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a grandma
- Draw the head oval first and big. The glasses and smile are easier to place when you have lots of room to work in.
- Make the two glasses circles the same size. Try drawing one, then draw the second right next to it, with a short line to join them.
- The crossed X on her chest is the trickiest part. Draw two light lines that cross first, then add the little belt below it.
