How to draw a puzzle piece step by step

How to Draw a Puzzle Piece · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Left piece outline

Draw a tilted square on the left side of your page with rounded corners. Leave a gap in the top edge and curve a round scoop dipping down into the square. Leave a gap in the right side too, because the knob goes there next.

  2. Step 2: The round knob

On the right side of the left piece, draw a bump shaped like a half circle that sticks out. Start at the top of the gap in the side line, curve out, and come back in at the bottom of the gap.

  3. Step 3: Top and right side

Start the second piece to the right. Draw a short line down, then a long slightly tilted top line with a rounded corner, and a straight line down the right side. Finish with a rounded corner and a short bottom line going left.

  4. Step 4: The round socket

On the left side of the second piece, draw a curved scoop that bulges inward, like a letter C turned around. It should look like the left piece's knob could fit into it.

  5. Step 5: Bottom left corner

Below the socket, draw a short line that goes down, turns a rounded corner, and runs a little way along the bottom edge toward the middle.

  6. Step 6: The bottom knob

At the bottom of the second piece, draw a U shape that hangs down like a little bucket. Connect both ends of the U to the gap in the bottom edge.

  7. Step 7: The little heart

Above the two pieces, draw a small heart. Make two bumps on top that meet in a tiny dip, then draw two curved sides that come down to a point.

  8. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a puzzle piece

  • Draw the tilted square first, leaving gaps where the round parts go. The knobs are easier if you picture a half circle sitting on the edge.
  • Make the knob on the left piece and the socket on the right piece about the same size so they look like they match.
  • Draw the heart last and keep it small. Start with the two bumps on top, then bring the sides down to a point.
