How to Draw a Swing Set (Easy Step by Step)
A swing set is a playground favorite, and it is built from simple shapes: a long rounded bar, straight lines, and a few little rounded rectangles. The tilted swing makes the picture feel like it is moving. Once you can draw the A-shaped frames, the rest is just lines hanging down.

Step 1: The top bar
Draw a long, wide rounded rectangle across the top of your paper, like a sausage lying on its side. This is the top bar of the swing set.
Step 2: The two A-frames
From each end of the top bar, draw two long lines that slant outward, like the legs of a big letter A. Make both sides match, and stop them at the same height near the bottom.
Step 3: The crossbars
Draw a short straight line across the middle of each A, connecting its two legs. This is the brace that keeps the swing set steady.
Step 4: The straight swing chains
Under the top bar, draw two long straight lines hanging down side by side, with the same gap along their whole length. Join their bottoms with a short flat line.
Step 5: The straight seat
Draw a flat rounded rectangle at the bottom of the two chains, like a squished oval, to make the seat. It sits just under the short line you drew.
Step 6: The tilted swing
Draw two long lines hanging from the top bar, leaning to the right as if the swing is moving. At the bottom, draw a tilted rounded rectangle for the seat, with a short line across its top.
Step 7: Tufts of grass
Near the bottom, draw four little grass tufts, one under each leg of the frame and one between them. Start each with a short upward line, then add a curved line on each side, like a tiny bird foot.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a swing set
- Draw the two A-frames at the same slant on each side so the swing set looks balanced.
- Keep the two chains of the straight swing parallel by checking the gap at the top and the bottom.
- For the tilted swing, lean both chains the same way and tip the seat to match.

Swing set fun fact for kids
A swing works like a pendulum, so a swing moves back and forth at about the same pace no matter how high you go.
Questions about drawing a swing set
What shapes do I need to draw a swing set?
You need one long rounded rectangle for the top bar, straight lines for the legs and chains, and small rounded rectangles for the seats.
How do I make the swing look like it is moving?
Tilt the chains and the seat to one side, like the swing on the right. Leaning lines make a still drawing feel full of motion.
How do I keep the frame legs even?
Draw the first leg, then copy its slant on the other side. Make both legs end at the same height near the grass.
