How to Draw a Halloween Cupcake (Easy Step by Step)
This Halloween cupcake wears a tiny witch hat and has big round eyes, so it looks more silly than spooky. It is built from simple shapes: a cup, a pillow, two domes, a cone and a few circles. Once you can draw those, you can draw the whole treat.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The cupcake wrapper
Start with the bottom of the cupcake. Draw a cup shape with a flat bottom and two sides that lean slightly outward as they go up. Leave the top open.
Step 3: The frosting base
Across the top of the wrapper, draw a wide, flat rounded rectangle, like a puffy pillow. It sits right on the open top of the cup.
Step 4: The big frosting dome
Draw a big dome on top of the pillow, like a bread loaf with a flat, rounded top. Start and end on the pillow, and keep it a little narrower than the pillow.
Step 5: Top swirl and eye dots
Draw two short curved lines rising from the top of the dome, one on the left and one on the right, to start a smaller dome. Then add two small dots in the middle of the big dome for eyes.
Step 6: The witch hat
On top of the small swirl, draw a tall pointy cone that bends over at the tip. Then draw a small flat oval around the bottom of the cone for the hat brim.
Step 7: Wrapper stripes
Draw four lines going down the wrapper from the frosting to the bottom. Make the two middle lines straight up and down, and slant the two outer lines outward.
Step 8: Round eyes
Draw a circle around each eye dot so each dot sits in the middle of a ring. Keep the two circles the same size and at the same height.
Step 9: A happy face
In the middle of the wrapper, draw two little dots for eyes. Then add a small curved smile underneath, like a tiny bowl.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a Halloween cupcake
- Draw the wrapper first and keep its bottom flat. The sides should lean outward as they go up, so the cupcake looks like it is sitting on a table.
- The hat is the trickiest part. Sketch a straight tall cone first, then bend only the tip to one side. Add the small oval brim around the bottom of the cone.
- Draw the two eyes at the same height, with a small gap between them and the edges of the dome. Put the dots in the same spot in each eye so they look in the same direction.

How to color your Halloween cupcake drawing
Try a purple or orange frosting dome, a black hat, and a wrapper in orange and black stripes. For a creative twist, add sprinkles shaped like tiny bats and stars on the frosting.
Halloween cupcake fun fact for kids
Cupcakes got their name partly because early recipes measured ingredients by the cup instead of weighing them. Some old cookbooks also called them 'number cakes.'
