A schoolhouse is a cozy drawing made from simple shapes: a roof, a tall tower, boxes, and one little circle. The bell tower on top and the flag on the side give it lots of character. Once you can draw straight lines, you can draw this whole building.

Step 1: Roof and bell tower
Draw one wide roof shape with a flat bottom and slanted sides. In the middle of its top, let the lines go straight up to make a tall narrow tower that ends in a point.
Step 2: The side walls
Draw two straight lines going down, one from near each end of the roof's flat bottom. Keep them the same length so the schoolhouse stands up tall.
Step 3: The ground line
Draw one long line across the bottom, joining the two walls and stretching out past them on both sides.
Step 4: The front door
In the middle of the house, draw a tall rectangle with rounded top corners, sitting on the ground line. Then draw one straight line down the middle to make two doors.
Step 5: Windows
Draw a rounded square on each side of the door. Inside each one, draw a plus sign to make four little window panes.
Step 6: The steps
Under the door, draw two short lines going down from the ground line. Then draw a long, flat rectangle at the bottom of them to make a step.
Step 7: Tower line and bell
Draw a straight line across the tower just under its pointed top. Below it, draw a small bell shape like a rounded dome with a flat bottom, and add a tiny dot beneath it.
Step 8: The round window
On the big roof, just below the tower, draw a small circle. It is easy to do if you trace around a coin.
Step 9: The flag
To the right of the house, draw a tall straight pole standing on the ground line. At the top, draw a wavy flag that waves out to the right.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a schoolhouse
- Draw the walls the same height on both sides. Make a tiny dot at the bottom of each line first, so they match.
- The bell is the trickiest part. Start with an upside-down U shape, then close the bottom with a flat line.
- Draw the round window by tracing a coin or bottle cap, so it comes out nice and round.
