How to draw a glass of lemonade step by step

How to Draw a Glass of Lemonade · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The glass

Draw a tall cup that is a little wider at the top than the bottom. Make two slanted sides and join them with a flat bottom that has rounded corners. Leave the top open.

  3. Step 3: The rim

Draw one straight line across the top of the glass, from the top of the left side to the top of the right side, to close it.

  4. Step 4: The bendy straw

Draw two long lines going up from the rim, then bend them to the right at the top and finish with a slanted end. Add a short line across the two lines near the bottom for a stripe.

  5. Step 5: The lemon slice

On the left side of the rim, draw a big circle that overlaps the glass edge. Draw a smaller circle inside it, so the big circle makes the peel.

  6. Step 6: Lemon segments

Draw a straight line across the middle of the small circle. Then add slanted lines crossing at the center, like the spokes of a wheel.

  7. Step 7: The little umbrella

On the right, draw a wide dome with a wavy bottom edge, like a small hill with scallops. Add a slightly slanted stick coming down from the middle to the rim.

  8. Step 8: Ice cubes

Draw two rounded squares inside the glass, one bigger and one smaller. Tilt them a little so they look like they are floating.

  9. Step 9: Bubbles and smile

Draw small circles on the right side of the glass, some with a tiny dot in the middle and one filled in. Finish with two dot eyes and a little curved smile near the bottom.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a glass of lemonade

  • Draw the glass sides slightly slanted, with the top wider than the bottom. If both sides lean the same amount, the cup will look even.
  • The lemon slice is the trickiest part. Draw the big circle first, then the small circle inside it, and add the lines through the center last.
  • Tilt the two ice cubes in different directions so they look like they are floating, and keep them away from the bubbles so there is room for everything.

Ice cubes float in lemonade because water gets lighter as it freezes. Ice is about 9 percent less dense than liquid water, so it bobs on top.
