How to draw Buddy the Elf step by step

How to Draw Buddy the Elf · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: Hat and band

Draw a tall, curvy cone for the hat that leans to the right, with its tip bending over at the top. Add two curved lines across the bottom for the hat band.

  3. Step 3: The round head

Under the hat band, draw the bottom of a big round face. Start at the left end of the band, curve down and around, then come back up to the right end.

  4. Step 4: Pointy ears

On each side of the head, draw a pointy ear shaped like a leaf, with the tip sticking out sideways. Add a tiny short line inside the left ear.

  5. Step 5: The feather

Near the tip of the hat, draw a long oval feather with a thin line down the middle and a few short lines on its edge. Add a little fold of hat edge beside it that runs down to the hat band.

  6. Step 6: Eyes

Draw two round dots for eyes, side by side in the middle of the face. Fill them in so they look dark and shiny.

  7. Step 7: Arms

Under the head on each side, draw a curved line that starts at the chin and bends outward and down, ending in a little hook. These are the arms.

  8. Step 8: Smile, tunic and feet

Draw a small U-shaped smile below the eyes. Under the chin, draw a little V-shaped collar, then two slightly slanted lines down for the sides of the tunic. Finish with a wide hem and two little rounded feet peeking out below.

  9. Step 9: The belt

Across the middle of the tunic, draw a thick, wide belt. Put a small rectangle in the center for the buckle.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Buddy the Elf

  • Start the hat with a gentle curve on each side that meets at a point, and lean the tip slightly to one side so it looks floppy.
  • Draw the hat and its band first, then the head under it. That way the head lines stop neatly where they meet the band.
  • Make both ears about the same size by drawing them at the same height as the eyes, then add the small inner line last.
