How to Draw a Sitting Dragon (Easy Step by Step)
This sitting dragon is round, soft, and very friendly, so it is a great first dragon to draw. It is drawn with one big pear-shaped outline, two little horns, small wings, a curly tail, and a tiny smile. There are no scary teeth or claws, just dots and curves.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Body outline and tail
Start at the left of the head and draw one long curvy line down the side, in at the neck, and out to a wide, round bottom. Come up the other side, add a small curly tail at the bottom right, and finish with a little horn on top of the right side of the head.
Step 3: Top of head, left horn
Draw a gently curved line across the top of the head to close it. Start it at the right horn and end with a second little horn on the left that matches the first.
Step 4: Two little wings
On each side of the body, just below the head, draw a small wing that starts at the body and curves out and back. Give each wing a wavy bottom edge, like soft scallops.
Step 5: Two belly curves
Draw two short curved lines on the belly, one on each side. Make the left one a U-shaped hook and the right one a backwards hook, so they look like tiny tucked-in arms.
Step 6: Two round eyes
Draw two small dots for eyes in the middle of the face, one on each side. Fill them in and keep them the same size.
Step 7: Tiny smile
Between the eyes and a little lower, draw a tiny wavy smile, like two small bumps in a row.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a sitting dragon
- Start with the light oval guide, then draw the body outline so the head sits in the top part and the bottom is wide and round.
- Make the two horns match. Draw each one as a short line that leans outward with a little bump near the tip.
- Keep the wings small and put them on each side where the head meets the body, so they look tucked on and not floating.
