Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Roof curves
Near the top of the page, draw two curved lines that look like the sides of a roof. Start each one at the top, curve it outward, and bring it down, with a gap in the middle.
Step 3: Hood and front
Draw a long, nearly flat line across the middle for the top of the hood. Then draw a line down from each end to make the sides of the front of the car.
Step 4: Windshield
Above the hood line, draw a wide rounded rectangle for the windshield, with its bottom sitting on the hood line. Add a small half circle at the bottom inside it.
Step 5: Roof rack
On top of the roof, draw a long, flat rounded bar. Draw a thick strip along the lower part of it where it sits on the roof.
Step 6: Side mirrors
Draw a small rounded box sticking out at the left and right edges of the windshield. Make the left one a little longer, with a small curve joining it to the car.
Step 7: Side window
On the left, next to the windshield, draw a tall, thin rounded rectangle that leans a little for the side window.
Step 8: Headlights and grille
Draw a circle for each headlight, one on the left and one on the right. Between them, draw two short, nearly flat lines, one above the other, for the grille.
Step 9: Bumper and tires
Draw a long line along the bottom for the bumper. Then draw a rounded tire shape under each front corner and fill them in dark. Add a thin tire shape along the left side.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing an SUV
- Draw the windshield after the hood line, so its bottom edge sits right on that line and the two meet neatly.
- Fill the tires in dark so they look solid, and keep them at the bottom corners of the car.
- Keep the roof rack a long, flat, rounded bar sitting right on top of the roof.
