Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: Top of the head
Start with a big curve for the top of the head, like the top half of a circle. Begin at the left, curve up and over, and stop on the right side, leaving the bottom open.
Step 3: The round body
Below the head, draw a big round shape for the body. Start where the left side of the head ended, curve down and around the bottom, and come back up to meet the right side of the head.
Step 4: The leafy crown
Above the head, draw a zigzag crown of pointy pineapple leaves. Make the middle leaf the tallest and the side leaves a little shorter.
Step 5: Horns and feet
Draw a small curved horn on each side of the top of the head, like a little leaf-shaped bump. Then add two little rounded feet at the bottom of the body.
Step 6: Wings and tail
Draw a wing on each side of the body shaped like a bat wing, with a curved top and a wavy bottom edge. Then draw a curly tail from the bottom right of the body, ending in a small curl.
Step 7: Eyes and smile
Draw two round dots for eyes, spaced wide apart on the head. Between them and a little lower, draw a tiny wavy smile like a sideways letter w.
Step 8: Belly criss-cross
On the belly, draw a few slanted lines going one way, then a few lines going the other way so they cross each other. Add one short curved line on the right side.
Step 9: Belly curls and tail
Draw a short curved line on each side of the belly, with one small curl at the bottom left. Then add a little squiggle along the top of the tail.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a pineapple dragon
- Draw the head first and the body second, with the body a little bigger, so the dragon looks round and cuddly.
- The belly criss-cross is the trickiest part. Draw all the lines going one way first, then cross them with lines going the other way.
- Make the two wings about the same size by drawing the first one, then comparing the second against it before you finish.
