How to Draw a Restaurant (Easy Step by Step)
A restaurant is a cute building made mostly of rectangles and little half circles. You will build it from walls, a roof, a bumpy awning, and a round sign with a fork and spoon. The smiling window makes it feel like a friendly place to eat.

Step 1: Walls and floor
Draw a tall U shape for the building: a line going up on the left, a flat line along the bottom, and a line going up on the right. Leave the top open.
Step 2: The roof
Above the walls, draw a long flat line for the top of the roof. From its left end, draw a slanted line down to the left, then draw a long straight line across to the right. Finish with a small curve at the left that tucks into the left wall.
Step 3: Scalloped awning
Under the long straight line, draw a row of bumpy curves like a wavy curtain. Add a short line at each end that goes up to the straight line.
Step 4: Awning dividers
Draw two short straight lines going down from the straight line, between the bumps. Together with the end lines they split the awning into five bumps.
Step 5: The round sign
On the top right of the roof, draw a big circle. Then draw the slanted right side of the roof, going down from the circle to the end of the awning.
Step 6: The door
On the left, draw a tall rectangle that starts at the bottom line of the building. Add a short straight line across it, about halfway up.
Step 7: The window
On the right of the door, draw a wide rectangle for the window. It should be turned on its side, wider than it is tall.
Step 8: Fork and spoon
Inside the round sign, draw a fork with a short handle and little prongs. Next to it, draw a spoon with a small oval on top of a handle.
Step 9: Face and knob
Inside the window, draw two round dots for eyes and a small curved smile between them. Then add a small dot on the door for the knob.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a restaurant
- The scalloped awning is the trickiest part. Make light pencil marks first for where the bumps meet, then connect each pair with a curve that dips down like a smile.
- Draw the round sign by tracing a cup or a coin. It will look much rounder than a freehand circle.
- Use a ruler or the edge of a book for the door and window. Straight sides make the whole building look neat, and you can keep the face and fork wobbly for a hand-drawn charm.

How to color your restaurant drawing
Try red and white stripes on the awning, a warm yellow wall, and a blue door. For a creative twist, color the window like a sunset and give the sign a golden glow.
Restaurant fun fact for kids
The word restaurant comes from a French word that means to restore. In Paris in the 1700s, early restaurants served warm broths that were meant to restore tired people.
Questions about drawing a restaurant
What shapes do I need to draw a restaurant?
You need rectangles for the walls, door and window, a four-sided shape for the roof, a circle for the sign, and half circles for the awning. That is all.
How do I make my restaurant look cuter?
Add a smiling face in the window, like this drawing has. Rosy cheeks, bigger eyes, or a tiny heart on the sign work too.
How do I draw the awning bumps the same size?
Mark evenly spaced dots under the long straight line first. Then draw a curve from dot to dot. The middle bump can be bigger on purpose, so it stands out.
