Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The round body
Draw a big round shape like a ball that is a little squished at the sides. Make it one smooth line that joins up where you started.
Step 3: The middle line
Draw one straight line across the middle of the round shape, from the left side to the right side. It splits the grill into a lid on top and a bowl on the bottom.
Step 4: The handle
On top of the lid, draw a small box with rounded corners, like an upside-down U. Its two ends sit right on the curve of the lid.
Step 5: The three legs
Draw two slanted lines going down and out from the bottom of the bowl, and one straight line in the middle. Add a tiny flat line at the end of each side leg for a foot.
Step 6: The happy face
In the bowl, draw two small round dots for eyes, side by side. Then draw a little curved smile between and below them.
Step 7: Wavy smoke
Above the grill, to the right, draw a wiggly line that curls up like a snake. It shows the yummy smoke floating away.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a barbecue grill
- Draw the round body big, so there is plenty of room for the middle line, the handle and the face.
- Keep the line across the middle straight by using the edge of a ruler or a book as a guide.
- Make the two side legs lean outward the same amount, so the grill stands steady and looks balanced.
