How to Draw a Mansion (Easy Step by Step)

A mansion looks fancy, but it is built from simple shapes: rectangles, rounded squares, a trapezoid, and a triangle. This one has a big roof, two chimneys, a round roof window, five windows with four panes each, and a front porch with pillars. Once you can draw a rounded square, you can fill the whole house.

How to draw a mansion step by step

How to Draw a Mansion · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The big roof

Draw a wide shape with a flat top and sides that slant outward, like a squished trapezoid. Make the bottom edge a little wavy, with a small bump near the left.

  3. Step 3: Walls and ground

From the bottom corners of the roof, draw two straight lines going down for the walls. Then draw a long line across the bottom that sticks out a little past each wall for the ground.

  4. Step 4: Two chimneys

On top of the roof, draw two small chimneys that look like little buckets. Each one has a wider lip at the top and two short sides that tuck into the roof.

  5. Step 5: Roof window and dot

Draw a small oval window on the left side of the roof. Add one tiny dot on the right side of the roof.

  6. Step 6: Top windows begin

Below the roof, draw three rounded squares in a row. Make the middle one a window with four panes by adding a plus sign inside it.

  7. Step 7: More window panes

Add a plus sign inside the left and right rounded squares in the top row. Then draw two more rounded squares with plus signs on the lower floor, one on the far left and one on the far right.

  8. Step 8: Porch roof and posts

In the middle of the lower floor, draw a flat triangle like a little hat with a straight line closing it underneath. Then draw two tall lines from its bottom corners down to the ground.

  9. Step 9: Porch pillars

Inside the two tall lines, draw two more straight lines from the porch roof down to the ground. Now each side of the porch has a pair of pillar lines.

  10. Step 10: The front door

Between the pillars, draw a tall door with a rounded top, like an upside-down U. Add a small dot on the right side for the doorknob.

  11. Step 11: The garden path

Below the door, draw two short curvy lines that start at the ground and swoop out to the sides. They make a path leading to the house.

  12. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a mansion

  • Draw the roof first and make it wide. The walls then hang down from its corners, so everything lines up.
  • The four-pane windows are the trickiest part. Draw the rounded square first, then add one line down and one line across, and try to keep all five windows about the same size.
  • Draw the porch in the center of the lower floor. Start with the little triangle roof, then the pillars, then the arched door, so the door fits neatly between the pillars.
