How to Draw a Mom and Baby Koala (Easy Step by Step)
A mom koala cuddling her baby is one of the cutest things to draw, and it is made almost entirely of round shapes. You will use a wide curve for the head, big cloud shapes for the ears, a soft rounded body, a tiny baby head, and a few leaf shapes for the eucalyptus branch.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Head bottom and bump
Draw a wide U-shaped curve for the bottom of mom's head, with both sides curving up. At the lower right, let the line wander out into a small rounded bump that curls down.
Step 3: Two round ears
Draw one bumpy line across the top of the head that makes two big, fluffy cloud-shaped ears, one on each side with a gentle dip in the middle. Let each ear curve down to meet the side of the head.
Step 4: Eyes and nose
Draw two small dots for eyes, one on each side of the middle. Between them, draw a tall oval nose that is a little wider at the top and color it in.
Step 5: The sitting body
Under the head, draw a big, soft, rounded shape for mom's tummy and bottom. Start with a small bump on the left for her foot, curve along a wide bottom, and come up the right side to meet the bump by the head.
Step 6: Mom's hugging arm
Draw a long curved arm that swoops out from mom's chest and loops across her tummy. Then add a short curved line below it to show the fold of her tummy and leg.
Step 7: The baby's face
Draw a small rounded head for the baby in the bump on the right, finishing its left side with a curved line. Add two tiny dot eyes and a small oval nose between them.
Step 8: The eucalyptus branch
Draw a long, slightly bent stick that starts at the upper left, near mom's arm, and goes down and across her lap toward the bottom right. Add a second line right beside it to make the branch look thick.
Step 9: Leaves and stems
At the top end of the branch, draw a few pointy oval leaves on thin stems. Make one leaf larger on the left and a couple of smaller ones close to the branch.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a mom and baby koala
- Draw the bumpy bump at the lower right of the head carefully, because that is where the baby will sit.
- The ears are the biggest shapes on the page, so make the edges bumpy and fluffy, and keep both ears about the same size.
- Keep the baby's face tiny. Two dots and a little oval nose are all it needs, and small features make it look extra sweet.
