How to draw a valentine boba tea step by step

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: The cup

Draw two slightly slanted lines that get closer together as they go down. Join them at the bottom with a wide, rounded curve to make the cup.

  3. Step 3: The lid

On top of the cup, draw a wide dome shape like a squished half circle. Close it at the bottom with a gently curved line that sits just across the top of the cup, a little wider than the cup.

  4. Step 4: The bendy straw

Draw a long, thin straw that leans to the right. Start it inside the lid, then bend it near the top so the end tilts further right. Let it poke up through the top of the lid.

  5. Step 5: Lid line

Draw one long, gently curved line across the lid, just above the bottom edge. Make it a little smile shape lying on its side.

  6. Step 6: Eyes and smile

Draw two round dots for eyes in the upper middle of the cup, with space between them. Add a tiny curved smile in the center, a little lower than the eyes.

  7. Step 7: Boba pearls

Near the bottom of the cup, draw six solid round dots of about the same size. Let them crowd together in a little pile.

  8. Step 8: Big hearts

Draw two bigger hearts floating above the lid, one on each side of the straw. Start with a little dip at the top, then curve down to a point at the bottom.

  9. Step 9: Small hearts

Fill in the empty spaces beside the cup with two smaller hearts. Make one low on the left and one low on the right.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a valentine boba tea

  • Draw the two sides of the cup first and make the bottom a little narrower than the top. Then the lid will sit on top neatly.
  • Start the straw inside the lid and let it cross the top edge. This makes it look like it is really poking through.
  • Draw the boba pearls as solid dots that touch or almost touch each other. A loose pile near the bottom of the cup looks the most natural.

Boba tea started in Taiwan in the 1980s. The chewy pearls are made from tapioca, a starch that comes from the cassava plant, and the drink is also called bubble tea.

Questions about drawing a valentine boba tea

What shapes do I need to draw a boba tea?

You need a trapezoid for the cup, a half circle for the lid, and a long thin shape for the straw. Add round dots for the pearls and the eyes, and a few hearts.

How do I make my boba tea look cuter?

Put the eyes wide apart and the smile low and small between them. Add the hearts around the cup to make it feel happy.

How do I draw the boba pearls so they look round?
