  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: The round head

Draw the sides and chin of a big round head. Start near the top on the left, curve down around the chin, then draw the right side the same way. Leave the top open for the hat.

  3. Step 3: The hard hat

Draw a dome on top of the head, like half a circle, with a flat band across the bottom. Add a curved line inside the dome and a short line straight down the middle.

  4. Step 4: The pointer stick

Draw a short slanted line sticking out from the left side of the head, like a teacher's pointer.

  5. Step 5: Face and right arm

Draw two round glasses with a dot in each and a short line joining them, then a small curved smile below. Add a little V under the chin, then draw the bent arm on the right with a small circle for the hand.

  6. Step 6: The body

Under the head, draw a short curved neckline. Then draw a tall shape like a vest or apron going down to a flat bottom.

  7. Step 7: Left arm and legs

Draw a long bent arm on the left side of the body and finish it with a small circle for the hand. Under the body, draw two short straight lines for legs.

  8. Step 8: Shoes and plan base

At the bottom of the legs, draw a flat oval for each shoe. Then draw a straight line going out to the right from the hand.

  9. Step 9: The rolled plan

Next to the body, draw a tall rectangle with a rounded roll at the top and the bottom, like a scroll. The hand on the right holds it.

  10. Step 10: The little house

Inside the plan, draw a small house: a square with a pointed roof on top and a tiny door in the middle.

  11. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Questions about drawing an architect

What shapes do I need to draw an architect?

You need a big circle shape for the head, small circles for the glasses and hands, ovals for the shoes, and a tall rectangle for the rolled plan. A half circle makes the hard hat.

How do I make the glasses look even?

Draw one circle first, then draw the second circle the same size at the same height. Join them with a short straight line in the middle.

How can I make my architect look more like a builder?

Color the hard hat a bright color and add your own details to the little house on the plan, like a window or a chimney.
