The golden goose is a story favorite, and this one sits proudly on her nest next to a shiny egg. She is built from simple shapes: a circle for the head, a long curved line for the neck and body, a leaf for the wing and a wide bowl for the nest. Even the bow tie and the sparkle lines are just small loops and short strokes.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The round head
Draw a circle near the top left of your page for the head. Make it about the size of a small coin.
Step 3: Neck and body
Start at the left side of the head and draw a long curved line down for the front of the neck. Keep going around to make the belly. Then start at the right side of the head, draw the back of the neck, and curve out to the right and around for the back and tail end.
Step 4: Beak and eye
Draw a little pointy triangle on the left side of the head for the beak. Add a small filled dot above and a bit to the right of the beak for the eye.
Step 5: The bow tie
On the neck just below the head, draw two small loops side by side, like a sideways figure eight. Put a tiny square or dot in the middle for the knot.
Step 6: Wing and feathers
Inside the body, draw a pointy leaf shape for the wing. Add two short slanted lines inside it for feathers.
Step 7: The tail
On the right end of the body, draw a curved, pointy shape that sticks up and out, like a little flag.
Step 8: Nest rim and bowl
Under the goose, draw a long curved line across her bottom for the top of the nest. Then draw a second, longer curve below it, like a wide smile, for the bowl.
Step 9: Egg, straw and sparkles
Draw an oval egg on the left, next to the nest. Fill the nest with short curvy straw lines and add a few short sticks at its sides, then draw three little lines above the egg to make it shine.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing the golden goose
- Draw the neck and body as two long curved lines first. They are the biggest part of the goose, and the wing and tail will fit on more easily.
- The bow tie looks tricky, but it is just two small loops and a tiny knot in the middle. Draw the left loop, then the right loop, then the knot.
- Draw the nest after the goose so her body sits on top of it. Make the straw lines short and curvy, and let them be a little messy.
