How to draw a kid with a Christmas stocking step by step

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The big round head
Draw a big circle near the top of the page for the head. Leave a small gap at the bottom where the neck will go.
Step 3: Neck and tunic
Close the bottom of the head with a short curved line for the neck. Under it, draw the sides and flat bottom of a box for the tunic, a little wider at the bottom.
Step 4: Arms and hand
On the right side of the tunic, draw a short curved line reaching out to the side for an arm. On the left side, draw a curved line going down for the other arm, and finish it with a little curl for the hand.
Step 5: Two round shoes
Under the body, draw two ovals side by side so they touch in the middle, like a sideways number eight.
Step 6: The big stocking
Next to the arm, draw a tall boot shape with a round toe that turns right at the bottom. At the top, add a straight line across for the cuff and a curved line for the stocking's right side.
Step 7: Teddy bear head
Peeking out of the top of the stocking, draw a small rounded head for a teddy bear. Add a tiny bump on each top corner for the ears.
Step 8: Face, dots and details
Add two dots for eyes and a curved smile on the head. Draw a few dots and little squares on the tunic, then add the arm and hand outlines, two short legs above the shoes, and small touches on the stocking.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a kid with a Christmas stocking
- Draw the head circle first and keep it big, so there is plenty of room for the body and the stocking beside it.
- The stocking is the trickiest part. Draw the tall boot with its round toe, then add the straight line for the cuff near the top.
- Keep the teddy bear small and tuck it just above the stocking's cuff, so it looks like it is peeking out.
